Suches, Georgia—known as “The Valley Above the Clouds”—is one of North Georgia’s most scenic mountain destinations. Just 80 miles north of Atlanta, it offers breathtaking views, peaceful forests, beautiful waterfalls, and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure.

For hiking enthusiasts, the Appalachian Trail is only a short drive from Kennedy Creek Resort and is a perfect place to begin your mountain adventure. Preacher’s Rock, located just a few miles up Highway 60, is a favorite local hike with rewarding panoramic views. Sosebee Cove Scenic Area is another nearby gem, known for its towering trees, wildflowers, and peaceful setting.

If waterfalls are on your list, Sea Creek Falls is a must-see. This beautiful bridal-veil waterfall is reached by a short hike and is one of the area’s most beloved natural attractions. The Toccoa River Swinging Bridge is another iconic stop nearby and makes a great photo opportunity before heading out for a day out and about.

Guests who enjoy fishing and camping will find plenty to explore in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Dockery Lake Recreation Area, Deep Hole Recreation Area, and Lake Winfield Scott all offer excellent options for fishing, picnicking, and relaxing outdoors. Cooper’s Creek Wildlife Management Area is also nearby and offers hiking, fishing, and mild forest service road exploration for those wanting to see even more of the mountains.
